Visibility is an important word for the readers of this magazine. It can mean many things - insight into billions worth of third-party spend, knowledge of supplier margins or insight into global commodity trends.
But for the purposes of this article, I'm talking about a different type of visibility - that which raises the awareness of the work that CPOs do, not just internally, but to the entire business world.
This issue of Procurement Leaders offers a unique insight into the issue. We interview the CPO of BP, Gulf of Mexico, about the role he and his team played in the cleanup of one of North America's most serious environmental disasters. Wilbert Long Jr talks frankly about the challenges he faced and how he received messages of thanks from other senior business unit heads for the work his team did. In crisis comes opportunity.
